“God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he'll have compassion on you; he'll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered” ( Deuteronomy 30:3)

Restoration is one way God pleases his people. Job is one fellow who longed for restoration. He lost all his property and seven of his children as Satan exacted vengeance on him for his faithfulness. Job longed and prayed for restoration. When God came through it was more than his bargain. “So the LORD blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning..” ( Job 42:12).

After Moses was thrown out of the palace for daring take sides with the Israelites against their Egyptian oppressors, and was scattered far into the desert, he must have longed and prayed for restoration. And finally God came through when out of nowhere he summoned him. “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me” ( Exodus 8:1).

When David was overthrown from his throne by his own son, Absolom, and fled his capital, he must have longed and prayed for restoration. Finally all happened when his son lost out in battle and David returned to Jerusalem (I Samuel 19).

May 2025 be your year of restoration. No matter how hard the fall has been or how long, keep trusting and believing in the God of restoration.

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, you are a God of restoration and so I pray you restore me in the place of your choosing and time, to your glory, this I pray in Jesus’ name!
