*Take a step of Faith!*

*”Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”* (Hebrews 11:1 (NIV).

Taking steps of faith marks the lives of everyone who has walked with God. When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and to Joseph and announced that the child Jesus would be conceived by the Holy Spirit, both had to step out in faith and raise Him (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38).

Abraham likewise took a decisive step of faith when the Lord said to him, *”Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you.”* So Abraham went, as the Lord had told him (Genesis 12:1-4). As scripture later records: *”By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going”* (Hebrews 11:8).

Moses, too, had to take a step of faith when he returned to confront Pharaoh—the very ruler from whom he had once fled—uncertain of the reception he would receive.Indeed, who among those who walked with God never had to take such a step? No wonder Paul goes to such lengths to exhort believers to live by faith, listing as many—Abel, Enoch, Noah. He continues: *”And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions…”* (Hebrews 11:32-33).

In the business world people often speak of “risk-taking.” For believers, however, we are called to live by faith. And today the Lord may be calling you to take a step of faith—in your personal life, your studies, your career, or your business—just as He called those who walked with Him before you. You have examined the matter carefully; much remains unclear, and resources may feel stretched. Yet to move to the next level, that step of faith is required of you. Take the step of faith and leave the matter to God.

Reflection:

Which matter is that which I am holding back yet if I take a step of faith God can open doors for me!

*Prayer for today:* Almighty Father, God of Abraham, today I ask for courage to take the step of faith in the work to which You are calling me. I look to You, trusting that You will make all things possible, just as You have promised to those who believe. This I pray in Jesus’ name!
