Is Anything Too Hard for God?
“Is anything too hard for the LORD?” — Genesis 18:14
There are moments in life when we face situations that seem impossible. We look at our circumstances, our resources, our limitations, and the problems before us, and we can only conclude, “There is no way out.” But what is impossible with man is not impossible with God!
When God promised Abraham and Sarah a son in their old age, the promise seemed humanly impossible. Scripture tells us, “Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing” (Genesis 18:11). Yet God asked a profound question: “Is anything too hard for the LORD?”
At His appointed time, the Lord came through:“Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.” — Genesis 21:1–2 What God promises, He is able to fulfil, regardless of how impossible the circumstances may appear.
Joshua and Caleb faced a similar situation. After Moses sent the twelve spies to explore the Promised Land, ten returned terrified and discouraged. They saw giants and concluded that conquering the land was impossible:“We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” — Numbers 13:33
But Joshua and Caleb saw something the others failed to see: they saw the giants, but they also saw the greatness of their God. While the majority focused on the size of the opposition, Joshua and Caleb focused on the power of the One who had promised them victory.
Ultimately, those who doubted God’s power did not live to see the Promised Land. But Joshua and Caleb, whose faith remained steadfast, saw God’s promise fulfilled. Their faith was richly rewarded.
Your situation may not be very different. Perhaps you feel that you are past your season of opportunity. Perhaps the door you have been praying for seems firmly shut. Perhaps the opposition you are facing at your workplace or in the marketplace looks like a giant standing in your way.
But what is God saying? Instead of listening only to the voice of man, listen to God. “Is anything too hard for the LORD?”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Almighty God. Whike Some of the situations I am facing seem beyond hope, and the voices around me keep saying, “It cannot be done,” I choose to turn my eyes away from my circumstances and listen to Your voice. I believe that nothing is too hard for You. May my faith remain steadfast until I see Your promises fulfilled. In Jesus’ name, I pray!
