A Personal God!
“Because I am God, your personal God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!”— Isaiah 43:3
It is hard to imagine a real relationship with someone you never talk to. Healthy relationships thrive on honest conversation—the freedom to ask questions when something is unclear, and the courage to bring disappointments or fears into the open rather than letting them fester. That kind of openness strengthens love.
In the same way, our relationship with God is meant to be personal. We are invited to bring Him our fears, our questions, and our struggles, and then wait to hear from Him.
We see this clearly in the life of Moses. When the people he led rebelled and provoked God’s anger, Moses poured out his heart: “He asked the Lord, ‘Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me? Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to the land you promised on oath to their ancestors?”
(Numbers 11:11–12). Moses spoke freely because he knew God as a personal God.
David did the same. In his distress he cried out: “Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you”(Psalm 86:1–5). And God answered him.
Even Jesus modeled this intimate relationship. On the night before His crucifixion He withdrew a short distance, knelt down, and prayed:
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:41–42). Jesus spoke to the Father as a Son to a loving Father.
The God we believe in is not distant or unreachable. He is near, welcoming, and ready to hear every challenge we bring. The very fact that Jesus came to earth and died on the cross for us shows how deeply personal He desires to be with each of us.
So do not suffer quietly alone. Come to Him with your needs, your questions, and your burdens. Speak freely. He will answer in His perfect time—because He is your personal God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Almighty God, what a privilege it is that we can talk with You, wait upon You, and hear from You. Today I bring You all my challenges. Meet me at the point of my need. Thank You that You understand and come near to us. I pray this in Jesus’ name!
