God Who Fights for You!

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14

There are occasions where one is faced with challenges or opposition of a formidable nature and wonders where to draw support. The problem looms as a mountain with one all but outnumbered. How does one conquer such!

Scriptures reminds us when Israel was once invaded, and almost everyone melted with fear, the prophet Elisha calmed all by pointing out, “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (2 Kings 6:16). That day the physical army of invaders was routed by the army of God.

God comes to the rescue of his people and fights for them even when the odds are set against them. Deuteronomy 1:30 says, “The LORD your God who goes before you, He shall fight for you, just as all that He did for you in Egypt before your eyes”! Very often the Israelites in their sojourn from Egypt saw the Lord push out a host of armies that seemed invincible. When Joshua and Caleb scouted enemy land and saw their armies, as others melted with fear, they reminded the people, “If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them” ( Numbers 14:8-9).

Sometimes the Lord fights for us in unexpected ways. Moses was once urged to lift up his hands in prayer by Aaron as Joshua waged war upon the Amalekites. “As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.”
( Exodus 17:11-13).

Today, where you feel you are up against an enemy of seemingly invincible powers, just look up to the Lord and he will fight for you to victory.

Prayer:

Lord Almighty Father God where I am faced with a matter that seems impossible fo me to fight I turn to look to you that you go ahead of me and fight for me. I draw upon your power that enabled the Israelite to overcome their enemy, that you give me victory and the glory goes to you. This I pray in Jesus’s name!
