“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depth of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” - Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV).

Who has not heard of the dangers of inferiority complex and how it affects the lives of many. Yet in
the eyes of God everyone of us is special. As we see in today’s verse God knows us even before we are born and calls each one of us individually for a special role in His kingdom. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepares for us in advance” (Ephesians 2:10).

The prophet Jeremiah too noted, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).

Writing to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul reminds them, “But he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace” (Gal 1: 15). The inference here being that the life Paul was marked even before he was born.

David noted that God knows every thought of ours from the beginnings. “Lord you have searched and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways” (Psalm 139:1-4). This all shows how we count in the eyes of God.

Today, no one should let the enemy limit you with feelings of inferiority. Someone who was “fearfully and wonderfully made” whom God knows all his thoughts, can’t afford to think of himself as less than any. Let us go out with the knowledge that not only are we uniquely formed but God has a special and distinct purpose for each one of His children.

Our lives are not here by chance. We are not walking aimlessly and fumbling through the dark like those who are lost. God has a clear and unique purpose for each one of us which is “to be conformed to the image of His son, so that He would be the first born among many brethren” (Romans 8: 29).

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray that I know I am special created for a unique purpose to conform to the image of your Son, Jesus!
