“Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?” ( Isaiah 53:1, KJV)

Back in school, the end of term often brought a mix of excitement and dread — especially the day the report card arrived. Some teachers were harsh, quick to label a student as a failure. Many pupils accepted those labels as final truth and never tried to rise above them. But others refused to believe the negative report. They worked harder, proved the assessment wrong, and turned a seeming curse into a blessing.

Whose report will you believe? Thousands of years ago, Moses sent twelve scouts to explore the Promised Land. Two very different reports came back. The majority returned terrified. They spread a bad report throughout the camp:

“The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.” (Numbers 13:32) But Joshua and Caleb gave a different account: “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.” (Numbers 14:7-8)

Unfortunately the people chose to believe the majority’s fearful report. They grumbled, wept, and wished they had died in Egypt. Because of their unbelief, that entire generation — except Joshua and Caleb — never entered the land God had promised them.

Life still presents us with two reports: one of failure and one of faith. The report of failure focuses on visible circumstances — the giants standing against us at the workplace, the financial mountain threatening us with ruin, the poor health diagnosis, the closed doors to career progression, the loud family voices saying “Impossible” to our dreams. And unfortunately many people accept this sour report and live defeated lives.

But there is always another report — God’s report of success even in the midst of great obstacles. Like Joshua and Caleb, we can lift our eyes beyond the physical obstacles and declare:

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20)

God responds to the faith we place in Him. The Israelites who believed the negative report died in the wilderness. Joshua and Caleb, who believed God’s promise, defeated their enemies and entered the Promised Land.

Today, whatever report you have received — however threatening it may look — choose to believe God’s report. He is greater than every giant. Success and victory belong to those who trust in Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Life sometimes presents two reports — one of failure and one of victory. Today I choose not to accept the report of fear or failure. I know Your power is greater than any force in this world. No situation is beyond Your control. I look to You, believing You will grant me success according to Your perfect will. I place all my trust in You and declare that the battle belongs to the Lord. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray!
