Waiting on God!
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" ( Isiah 40:31)
Moses had a desire to liberate the children of Israel who were languishing in slavery. So, he decided to take matters in his hand. "One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand" ( Exodus 2:11-12). But the timing was wrong. For after his crime was discovered Moses had to flee to Midian for his own safety.
Only after after waiting for 40 years, much humbled, did God call up Moses to go back to Egypt and have Pharaoh to "let my people go!" The once fiery young man who couldn't hesitate to take matters in his hands had by then learnt to wait on God. "But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain" ( Exodus 3: 11-12). Once in a rush; now it was God's time to lead and take the glory.
Perhaps you too might be wrestling with a matter that you feel is overdue. Like Moses you want to hurry on with the job and close that chapter. Problem is "God's timing"! Perhaps it is better to pause and wait on God! For just like Moses, in the end, the Lord will not tarry, and then He will be the one to take all the glory.
Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, today I pray to learn to wait on you in all my matters, for with your time everything comes to pass, for your glory, this I pray in Jesus's name.
