Daniel said, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever. For wisdom and power belong to Him.” - Daniel 2:20 (NIV)

How David became King of Israel is not just interesting but equally revealing. David was out and about tending his father’s pasture when a slot came up for the next king of Israel, after the Lord rejected King Saul (I Sam 16:1). Out of the lads of Jesse presented to the prophet Samuel none could fit the bill. Starting with the available elder boys, Eliab, Abidinab on to Shamah and others, all of them were just not the Lord’s choice.

But just then seemingly out of a pick Jesse reminded Samuel there was still his youngest son, David, out in the field. He was tending after sheep his mind far from vying for the most important office in Israel. Abruptly he was called up and ushered before Samuel. Once presented, the Lord said, “Go ahead, and anoint him. He is the one” (1 Sam 16:12).

David did not fight to be chosen. He did not tussle with his elder brothers. He was not back in the house scheming and throwing dirt to emerge the best candidate. He was out and about going about his work when the lot fell on him.

He was God’s choice. Interesting. So why should you struggle for what is yours! Next time you find yourself in a tussle for an important position or something else know that if it is the Lord’s choice, nothing will stop you. Out of nowhere you will be presented. The Lords choice.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, that in all circumstances I know that no one can take away your choice for me!
