“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” - John 14:27 (ESV).

One of the way the devil tries to steer the children of God from Him is by bringing confusion. As a war weapon confusion is very effective. Indeed we see it being used effectively when Gideon used only 300 men against his earlier desire of having 22,000 soldiers to rout the Midianites to defeat. “When the three hundred trumpet sounded the Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their sword” (Gideon 7:22).

The devil has a habit of turning the things of God to his wicked gain. He is always up to his tricks of bringing confusion through voices of doubt that makes one loose focus. Confusion can be brought with new strange teachings not rooted in the Word of God that make one loose course. Confusion sometimes comes with the devil throwing enticing traps that steer one away from the truth. Voices that are counter to the truth come and leave one unsettled.

One way to recognize the work of the devil is when one loses peace. “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace...” (1 Cor 14:33, ESV). Confusion denies one the freedom to enjoy the full blessings of God by locking one in some weird untruths. “Now the Lord is a spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Cor 3:17, ESV). Confusion leaves one restless, yet we are entrusted as children of God to be at peace. “Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you” (2 Cor 13:11, ESV).

In our personal walk with the Lord let us be wary of this old trick of the enemy. If you are on a walk to a certain destiny one way the enemy could deny you of your victory is by confusing you that the road you are on is wrong. Do not pay attention to such. Stay the course. Keep your peace. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7, ESV).

Prayer for today: Lord Almighty father God , you are a God of peace, and yet the enemy is always bringing confusion, but today I pray to overcome him in all his devious schemes and experience the blessings of your peace!

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong” (1 Cor 16:13)

Tourists who happen to visit Bukingham palace will be expected to notice the King’s royal guards. Dressed in colorful often red uniforms and adorning tall black helmets they stand on guard and no one dare cross them. Elsewhere in life we find guards in all manner of places quite firm on deterring any intruder wherever they may be.

For us Believers being on constant guard is a calling we must permanently observe. And why? Once in the course of his work, “Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns” (Mathew 16:23). Peter had just protested that he would not deny Jesus only to be sported out!

There is something for us to note here. Satan had penetrated the ranks of Jesus and was going through his closest disciple. It is clear that Peter was not even aware that he was being used. Anyway, he found his target, Jesus, was on guard. Immediately Satan was sent packing.

No Believer is immune to attacks from Satan. After all when once the Lord asked Satan his whereabouts: “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the LORD, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it” (Job 1:7). Clearly the guy is out there 24/7 looking for whom to devour. “Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour” (I Peter 5:8).

Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, as you have warned us to be on “guard” help me ever to be on the watch out for the attacks of the enemy and with your word rebuke Satan, this I pray in Jesus’ name!
