“And the word of the Lord came to Isaiah saying, “Go and tell Hezekiah, “Thus says the Lord the God of your father: “I have heard your prayers, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years” - Isaiah 38:4-5 (NIV)

Imagine you were placed in the situation where someone tells you your time here on earth is up. However, though your ultimate goal is to get to heaven, you are not in a hurry for there are things on your heart you would like to live and see first.

Perhaps it is seeing the graduation for some of your children, building up some business and enjoying career success, handing over a child in marriage. There can be a long list of dos and the feeling that one’s time is not yet can be intense.

When one such person, Hezekiah, was struck with illness and told his days were up, where do you think he run! He turned to the Lord and wept bitterly asking him for more years, for there was still a job to do: “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly” (Isaiah 38:2-3)

God answered Hezekiah’s prayer and added to him another fifteen years. Friend, there is nothing impossible with God. Should you be faced with an equally devastating situation, now you know where to run to.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, that whatever the situation I face I may run to you for you hear my prayers
