Protected to Prosper
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10
One of the blessings of the life of every believer is the opportunity to flourish and prosper. When we accept Christ as our personal Saviour, we enter into a relationship with a God who desires what is good for His children. He has a purpose and a plan for each one of us—a plan filled with hope and a future. As He has promised: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
Yet, while God desires to bless and prosper His children, believers must remain alert. There is an enemy who seeks to steal, kill and destroy the good things God has entrusted to us. The Apostle Peter warns us: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” — 1 Peter 5:8
The enemy may seek to undermine our well-being through many schemes, including attacks on our possessions, relationships, health, peace and purpose. We see a vivid illustration of this in the story of Job. When Satan appeared before God, the Lord asked him where he had come from. Satan replied: “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” — Job 1:7
Concerning Job’s prosperity, he shrieked: “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.” — Job 1:10
Satan’s words reveal something important: Job’s prosperity was not merely the result of his efforts; he was also under God’s protection. Satan wanted that protection removed so that he could attack what God had entrusted to Job.
This reminds us that God’s blessings should never make us careless. We must remain spiritually vigilant, trusting God not only to bless the work of our hands but also to protect what He has given us.

Prayer for Today
Lord God Almighty, I thank You for the life, blessings and opportunities You have given me. I commit the work of my hands, my family, my possessions and my future into Your hands. Build Your hedge of protection around me and all that You have entrusted to me. Keep me alert and discerning against every scheme of the enemy. May Your goodness, favour and protection follow me all the days of my life. Thid I pray in Jesus’ name!
