Marriage is an institution that was designed by God, for purposes of procreation and fulfillment of that special relationship between two partners of opposite sex, man and woman. Through this institution the family is established which is the most important unit in society. Through families children are born and raised, nurtured in Godly ways, to go out and serve Him. If the family institution dies then the work of God has lost its first and most important stage of development.

Perhaps because of its special place in God’s kingdom the marriage institution is constantly under attack. Many relationships are estranged with partners sometimes at each other’s throat, fighting in such a way that their union is compromised. Then also elsewhere the definition of marriage as an institution between man and woman is being challenged. There are now constant new definitions of what marriage is, the number and types of genders, far from how God deemed it to be!

For this reason, marriage is an institution that we should constantly pray for. When marriages are strong so is society. Name one strong society where family has been eroded. When marriages are broken down the consequences are so clear, especially with children not being nurtured in the ways of God. So we should never hesitate to pray and defend marriage.
