“...the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” - John 5:16 (KJV).

Have you ever taken on a huge challenge and then you were filled with worry if it could all turn out right. Maybe you were about to launch a business and suddenly you feared if it could all turn out right. Setting off for a long journey to strange lands for studies or work may fill you with all sorts of concerns.

Once when Abraham’s servant set out to look for a wife for his son Isaac as he was tasked by his master he knew the most important part of that journey was to pray first. When he got to the well near his destination he looked up to God. “Then he prayed. Lord you are the God of my master Abraham. Make me successful today. Be kind to my master Abraham ..” (Gen 24:12)

As we know the Lord heard the prayer of the servant Abraham. For just then Rebekah appeared to collect water from the well. And surely all signs pointed to her. This servant knowing that his prayer had been answered knew where to turn to. He raised his hands in worship, “I praise God the Lord of my master Abraham. The Lord hasn’t stopped being kind and faithful to my master. He has led me on this journey..” (Gen 24: 27).

Should you be about to embark on any journey, faced with any challenge, the most important part is to first pause and pray first. Ask God the father of Abraham to give you success just as He listened to the prayer from a faithful man. The Lord never fails.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, that you grant me success in any task I am about to take on!
