“Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”- Mat 11:28-30 (NIV)

Think of a time or an incident where you knew or let’s say had a strong impression on your heart that God wanted you to do something. Instead you opted out, chose something you thought much better, because your interest or rather motivation lay elsewhere.

Perhaps you had been called into a ministry to share the word of God. You know you have all the gifts and anointing to do good. But because you didn’t find it appealing you disregarded the evident call on your life.

In the Bible we do come across such a character - Jonah. “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me” (1 John: 2, NIV). Jonah was not so enthused with this call on his life. He decided to flee. Yet wherever he went a mountain of problems would submerge him. It is only when he returned and heeded the call on his life that calm returned in his life.

Sometimes the challenges we face and mountains of obstacles we come across is because we are running away from God. In fact this might start with refusing to accept Jesus as a personal Saviour. However, ours is a God of a second chance. Once we heed his call the sailing is smooth, just as happened to Jonah once he decided to obey God.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that you help me stay true to the call you have on my life and that I may experience your blessings!
