Make the most of the time
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens" ( Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Regrets can at times be avoided if we take advantage of our present circumstances. When Joseph was appointed Prime Minister of Egypt he had favour from Pharaoh. "Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Your father and your brothers have come to you, and the land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and your brothers in the best part of the land. Let them live in Goshen. And if you know of any among them with special ability, put them in charge of my own livestock" ( Genesis 47:6).
So that was it. But some years later, with Joseph and his brothers long passed on, a new Pharaoh rose and he had no clue who these people were. "Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt" ( Exodus 1:8). Alarmed at the numbers of Israelites he took a different attitude toward them. "So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh" (vv 11). In other words, there was no more privileges or any favours towards once favourites! Slavery would be their hard rod until God would deliver them.
The point here is make the best of an opportunity while it lasts. It could be God has placed you in a situation where you are favoured and have access to all manner of privileges. Instead of making the best of that privileged situation you are taking it lightly. When a new ruler comes on the scene, one day, and takes away those favours and privileges which you misused, why would you then blame God!
Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, I thank you for all the blessings in my life and may I seek to make the best of this opportunity I have as long as it lasts, this I pray in Jesus's name.
