“By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all the work” - Genesis 2:2 (NIV)

Once while out visiting I got to France on a bright Sunday morning. I had travelled with US dollars which I now needed to change into the local European currency. I dropped my bags in my hotel room and went about looking for an exchange currency point. It came as a shock to me to find virtually all shops closed for business. This was a Sunday and according to custom shops were closed for business.

According to some economists this would not make much sense by losing one day of work in a week. Productivity would go down. However, for all I know, taking off one day of rest, had not detailed France from being one of the richest countries in the world.

There are many nations and individuals that have taken to the opposite and lost sight of this Biblical truth. They work 24/7 without ever taking a day off to rest and worshiping to God. But that does not make them the richest or most pleasurable to live in.

For all intents and purpose taking a day off to rest and worship God simply powers one to be even more productive. This is how God designed we should all function. It is for our good. Why not try it, and see where God will take you.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, that I am always mindful of taking off a day of rest to worship you.
