“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”- Psalm 147:3

A potter delights in gathering discarded, ugly fragments and shaping them into a beautiful vessel. Likewise, a skilled builder finds deep satisfaction in taking scattered, stray materials and joining them into something of lasting value. When the work is finished, the builder stands back with a quiet, satisfied smile.

God is such a Builder. He delights in gathering the fallen, shattered pieces of our lives and forming them into something beautiful.
Consider the woman caught in adultery, dragged before Jesus by the Pharisees who expected condemnation (John 8:1–11). She was already broken. All she needed was restoration. Jesus turned the tables on her accusers, challenging anyone without sin to cast the first stone. One by one they walked away, convicted. Then He turned to the broken woman and said, “Neither do I condemn you… Go now and leave your life of sin” (John 8:11). In that moment a shattered woman received the embrace of divine mercy.

Or think of Peter. After denying the Lord three times, he remembered Jesus’ prediction and “went outside and wept bitterly” (Luke 22:61–62). Yet the same broken Peter was restored and later stood before the crowd on the day of Pentecost, filled with the Holy Spirit, and declared with boldness: “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah” (Acts 2:36). The fearful denier was rebuilt into a courageous witness.

Every life experiences shaking. Betrayal by close friends can plunge a person into deep depression. The collapse of a marriage through divorce can leave the heart in ruins. Watching a long-cherished dream be stolen by the schemes of evil people can crush the spirit.

Yet God remains in the business of repairing broken lives. Through Ezekiel He declared:
“Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord’” (Ezekiel 37:4–6).

Nothing is beyond the Lord’s power to restore. What appears to us beyond recovery, He intends to rebuild from scattered fragments into something that brings Him glory. All that is required is an open heart inviting His skillful hands to come and rebuild a broken life.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, what a joy and blessing it is to know that You rebuild broken lives and scattered dreams. I bring to You every fragmented piece of my life—everything that feels reduced to nothing—and ask You to fashion it into something beautiful that displays Your amazing power and brings glory to Your name. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
