*God our Protector and Defender!*

*"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death"* (Revelation 12:11).

In some remote places, houses stand with plain and unguarded doors and windows. In fact, there are still communities where people leave their car doors unlocked. Such confidence is the stuff of dreams in most urban areas. Homes are fitted with burglar-proof doors and windows, and many people go even further by installing alarms, electric fences, and hiring night guards. In some places, people go to bed with weapons tucked beneath their pillows, just in case.

For the children of God, however, He is our defender and protector. When the Israelites left Egypt, despite all the signs and wonders God had demonstrated, they still feared that Pharaoh would pursue and attack them. Indeed, no sooner had they departed than Pharaoh assembled his best troops to chase them down.
Scripture tells us: *“Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel's army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long"* (Exodus 14:19-20).

At the very moment they needed protection, God came to their defense.

As children of God, worldly caution remains important in life. After all, Scripture instructs us to be “as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” Yet we have an even greater Protector and Defender. When Pharaoh, in his stubbornness, refused to release the Israelites, the Lord prepared to strike down every firstborn in Egypt. He instructed the Israelite households to mark their homes with the blood of the lamb, saying: *“The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”* (Exodus 12:13).

As a child of God, Jesus Christ has already shed that precious blood for your protection. *"Do not forsake it. He promises: Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”* (Psalm 50:15).

*Prayer:*
Lord Almighty Father God, You are my Protector and Defender. Whatever armies or attacks are unleashed against me, I cover myself with the blood of the Lamb. Deliver me from every attack of the enemy and bring me safely through. This I pray in Jesus’ name!
