“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.”Psalm 90:17

Favor is a blessing that virtually everyone desires. When God’s favor rests upon a person, doors open that no human effort alone could release. His favor goes before us, guides our steps, and accomplishes what our own strength never could.

When Abraham’s servant set out to find a wife for Isaac, he entrusted the journey to God. The Lord directed him precisely where he needed to be. After meeting Rebekah, he bowed in worship and said, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives” (Genesis 24:26–27). God’s favor led him every step of the way.

Esther also experienced God’s favor. Out of many young women, she was chosen to become queen after Queen Vashti lost the king’s favor. Yet Esther never took God’s favor for granted. When she learned of Haman’s plot to destroy the Jewish people, she called for a time of fasting before approaching King Xerxes. As she stood before the king, God’s favor was evident. “Then the king asked, ‘What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given you” (Esther 5:3). God’s favor not only elevated Esther but also became the means through which an entire nation was saved.

The Bible also tells us that Mary was highly favored by God when she was chosen to give birth to the Savior. When she visited Elizabeth, she was greeted with these words: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:42–43). God’s favor placed Mary at the center of His redemptive plan for humanity.

One of the greatest blessings of knowing Christ is living under God’s favor. His favor is not earned by our own merit but received through His grace. Where others may wish you harm, God surrounds you with His goodness. Where the enemy seeks to steal, discourage, or destroy, the Lord becomes your protector. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart” (Psalm 91:4).

Today, remember this wonderful truth: as a child of God, you are favored. Walk confidently, not in pride, but in the assurance that God’s hand is upon your life. As the psalmist declares, “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the favor You have placed upon my life. May Your favor go before me today, opening the doors You have prepared and establishing the work of my hands. Protect me wherever I go, and let my words and actions reflect Your goodness so that others may be drawn to You. This I pray in Jesus’ name!
