I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – (Phil 4:13 ).

Self doubt is a common afflication that can affect any life. For instance, one could be given a job and feel quite overwhemed with all it demands. Perhaps one could feel limited by his feeble resources and even skills.

Moses was one person who was also called up to do a “big job” he felt he was not up to. Pulled out of the wilderness he trembled with doubt as he was tasked to return to Egypt and liberate his people. “But Moses said to the Lord, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?” (Exodus 6: 30). To which the Lord answered, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet” (Exodus 7:1).

Here is the point. It was not wrong for Moses to question himself as the task rightly seemed too huge for anyone. Many of us could share that moment of inadequacy. We have been asked to step into some outsized shoes. We are caught in an unexpected position and all eyes are on us.

One thing Moses did was to take his self-doubts to the Almighty God. And certainly God equipped him with an aide and later with a set of miracles that overwhelmed Pharaoh.

Today, if you feel inadequate, the Lord is challenging you not to lose hope but look up to him. As it is written, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:30).

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, you are our helper for whatever task we may face, and today I call upon you who enables to equip and power me to victory, this I pray in Jesus’s name!
