For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow”  (James 1:3, NLT).

All our bodies are made up of muscles which hold up our bones. The one thing about muscles is they differ from person to person. Our muscle size can increase if we engage in regular strength training exercise. In fact, a number of such exercises like weight lifting and press ups are highly recomnended. The more our muscles are challenged the greater the benefit of buiding muscle power. If you want your muscle strength to increase then regularly exercise!

Likewise, also, the same principles hold for our faith in Jesus. When our faith is exercised it grows. Exercising our faith can grow through a number of ways. For example, when we encounter trials of various kinds, our faith is exercised. This is why God lets trials of all kinds our way because of the benefit. James thus writes, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything” (James 1:2-4).

When someons lives a comfortable life without exercising that person’s muscle strength could easily weaken for lack of being challenged. As believers our faith can also weaken because it is sheltered and never tasted. This is what is called living in the comfort zone. However, when we go out of our comfort zone and meet all kinds of challenges, our faith is tasted and it grows.

Today, therefore, if your faith is weak one way you can let it grow is by exercising it though challenges like sharing Jesus with non believers. Perhaps God is also telling you to get away from your comfort zone for the sake of growing your faith. For such could be God’s way to exercise your faith for it to grow!

Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, for my faith in you to grow it must be exercised, and today I pray that through the exercise of trials and life challenges, I grow in faith, this I pray in Jesus’s name.
