Do not worry!
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" ( Philippians 4:6).
Fear and anxiety can be experienced by any of us, especially when things do not go to plan. But if you are a believer, a certain peace should in the end overflow you, as you rest in the Lord. For scripture says, "But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him" ( Jeremiah 17:7).
There are three things why a believer cannot be given to fear and anxiety common to man. First of all a believer knows God has said, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations" ( Jeremiah 1:5). This means that no matter the circumstances that he might face his future is in the hands of God. The believer also knows that God wishes him the best, "for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose" ( Phillipians 2:13). Besides God says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" ( Jeremiah 29:11). And if he feels any threat or attack on him, he recalls what the Lord has said, "no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD" ( Isiah 54:17).
Is there any concern troubling you today and making you restless? It is normal that even when you know you have something under control to be on occasion tossed with doubts and perhaps worry. But you overcome all that because, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31). And that, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us" ( Romans 8:37).
Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, today where I find my heart restless with fear and worry, I cast all anxiety aside and rest in you, because my hope is in you, this I pray in Jesus's name!
