Call upon God!
"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know"- Jeremiah 33:3
It’s normal to hear Moslems indulge in loud calls to their God early morning. Needless to say if you are not a Moslem and then you wake up to these calls often broadcast through some amplified speaker they can be upsetting.
Christians have a God whom they need not worry about calling wether in the morning, at noon or late evening, to the annoyance of their neighbours. Moreover they don't need loudspeakers. At anytime one can call up our God. For he says, "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you" (Jeremiah 29:12).
To call upon someone can be a result of certain instances. Usually people will call their best friends when in trouble to help them out. But there are also cases where one calls out to a friend not just because he is in trouble but knows the friend is there and willing to listen. He has a relationship with the friend!
Now our God answers to both. If we happen to be in trouble, He says, "and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me" ( Psalm 50:15). However, it is not just trouble. As Christians we have a God whom we can call anytime, "Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live" ( Psalm 116:2).
Today, therefore, rise and call up to God for any situation wherever you are and at any time of day without worrying how loud. "Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples" ( Psalm 105:1).
- Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, today I rise and gently call upon you through the day assured you are ever there ready to listen to me and deliver me with victory, this I pray in Jesus's name.
