Be Prosperous!

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).

One of the blessings of every believer is prosperity. This becomes part of one’s inheritance the moment they accept Christ as their personal Saviour. God has a good plan for each of His children. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Much as this promise stands true, believers must always remain alert, for there is an enemy who seeks to steal that prosperous life from them. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). The enemy seeks to deny believers their prosperity through many schemes, including robbing them of their peace, possessions, opportunities, and blessings.

Hence we find, “The Lord said to Satan, ‘Where have you come from?’ Satan answered the Lord, ‘From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it’” (Job 1:7). Clearly, this was no casual walk.

Satan further said concerning Job: “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face” (Job 1:9–11).

To preserve the prosperity God has given them, believers must not only stay vigilant but also continually pray for God’s divine hedge of protection over their lives. “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them” (Psalm 34:7).

Prayer:
Lord God of Abraham, You who desire that Your children prosper and take possession of the land, I pray for Your blessings upon the work of my hands. Because of Your love and promises, surround me with Your hedge of protection and preserve all that You have entrusted to me, this I pray in Jesus’s name.
