"And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased" - Matthew 3:17 (NIV).

Few would argue that a common feature of parents is love for their children. However, parents can have moments of disquiet when a child of theirs behaves in a certain way contrary to their expectations. If a child gets involved with bad company that engages in lewd behaviours, the parent will most likely be displeased. Of course this does not take away the love he has for the child. In fact it is more of a concern.

Most children want affirmation of the love of their parents, because when there are pleased with them good things happen. A parent who is pleased with his child will not hold back his blessings.

In our verse today we note God did not just love his son, Jesus Christ, but was as well pleased with him! Parents are pleased with their children if they obey them and do what they expect of them. Jesus earned that right because he walked in the will of the Father, obeyed his commands, and so, was pleasing to God.

All which is to say let us walk with the Father and be obedient to his commands. When we do so He will be pleased with us and bless us abundantly!

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, I pray that I am ever pleasing to you, so as to experience a shower of blessing, because of your abundant love, this I pray in Jesus's name.
