Be Hopeful!
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:19).
Imagine a situation where, early one morning, a father wakes his child from sleep and leads him on a journey to an unknown destination, carrying only limited snacks and water for the way. The path winds through thick bushes and a dense forest feared for its dangerous animals and reptiles. Wouldn’t the child have many questions as he silently trudges along? Where am I going? Most likely, he would be frightened as he blindly follows on.
Of course, we know of a similar event in Scripture. When Abraham took his son Isaac up the mountain, it is no surprise that at one point, “Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, ‘Father?’” (Genesis 22:7). “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Isaac had every reason to wonder. The uncertainty around him naturally brought fear and questions. In many ways, life can feel the same for us. Sometimes the things around us make little sense, and we too may feel anxious or afraid. Yet, just as with Isaac, there is a Father who has gone ahead of us — Almighty God Himself.
Indeed, we have His reassuring promise: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
So if, like Isaac, you find yourself on a journey where everything around you seems uncertain, do not be overcome by fear. Instead, rest assured that God is in control. The One who led you this far will surely make a way for you.
Prayer Today:
Lord God of Abraham, Maker of heaven and earth, thank You for the assurance that You always go ahead of me. Even when life does not make sense and the path before me seems uncertain, I choose to trust in You. Fill my heart with hope and courage, knowing that You are in control and will make a way where there seems to be none. This I pray in Jesus’ name
