“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” - Gal 3:26 (NIV)

J I Parker who went to be with the Lord on July 17th 2020 at age 93 was one of the most influential evangelical Christians of his era. His book “Knowing God” and dozen others have inspired a generation of believers.

One of his most famous calling was that Christian life was a daily experience with God. “When Christians meet they talk..rarely of their daily experience with God, little about the inner realities with God,” he wrote. He emphasized the need for repentance and holiness in our personal lives.

His ministry of writing spanned over 70 years. He served as General Editor of the English Standard Version Bible. A champion of maintaining scriptural accuracy in 2008 he was suspended from the Anglican Church of Canada for opposing same sex marriage.

Parker who was born and raised in Britain, settled in Canada, but had a ministry that went beyond borders. He urged believers always to remember they had a Father in heaven and were God’s children. In one of his last interviews he said he wanted to be remembered as someone who stood for the truth of the Bible. “Truth is truth!” To him now is “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Mathew 25:21).

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven today I pray that your truth as revealed in the Bible ever inspires me!
