“Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” – Rev 3:20 (NIV).
One of the hall marks of a Christian life is how the Holy Spirit works in the life of a believer to change his old ways. There was one gentleman who used to boast of a vile tongue. At the very slight provocation and, sometimes even without, he would get going with four letter adjectives. How he would then enjoy the effect of his colorful language.
However, once he came to Christ in the course things changed. Through the work of the Holy Spirit and being discipled by other believers, his language changed. From being one whose vocabulary was always powered with put down belittling statements of others now his speech was interspersed with edifying and uplifting language. Hearing him now many could not believe it was the same person!
This is what it means to come to Christ and of course being Born Again. Born Again believers live changed lives that all those who see them recognize a difference. It’s not the same person they knew before full of spite and hate. Of course it all starts with every one of us allowing Christ to come into our lives and doing the change through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray that I allow your son Jesus Christ to come into my life and change my sinful ways to holiness!
