God Blesses His People

“May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!” (Psalm 20:4)

Everyone in life aspires to be blessed. When we are blessed, opportunities open up, our efforts bear fruit, and our hearts are filled with joy. While success often requires hard work and diligence, there is a God who abundantly blesses those who seek Him earnestly.

This is exactly what happened to Abraham. Because of his faithfulness, “The LORD blessed Sarah, as he had promised, and she became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham when he was old. The boy was born at the time God had said he would be born” (Genesis 21:1-2). God also blessed Isaac during a severe famine: “Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him” (Genesis 26:12). Likewise, after Job endured unimaginable loss and suffering, God restored and blessed him greatly: “The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part” (Job 42:12).

As children of God, we have a heavenly Father who delights in blessing us when we open our hearts to Him. In the book of Numbers, He declares: “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24–26). Sometimes God’s blessings come in ways that are easily recognizable, such as securing a good job, receiving a promotion, experiencing a financial breakthrough, or enjoying good health. At other times, His blessings may seem delayed, like was the case for Abraham and Sarah, because He is building our character, strengthening our faith, and teaching us to depend more fully on Him.

When God blesses us, we should not become proud, self-centered, or forgetful of His goodness. Rather, His blessings should cause us to glorify Him and acknowledge His favor upon our lives. Blessings are a testimony of His goodness. God also blesses us so that we may become channels of blessing to others, drawing them closer to Christ through our generosity. Indeed, Scripture says: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).

Today, remember that it is God’s desire to bless His people, and therefore you should not be tempted to seek help from ungodly sources, some bordering on Satanic worship, others involving quick- get rich schemes. Walk faithfully with Him, trust His timing, and remain steadfast in your obedience. In due season, He will shower His blessings upon you. After enduring years of hardship and injustice, Joseph was elevated from a prison dungeon to become the ruler of Egypt under Pharaoh (Genesis 41:41). Such is the nature of our God—He lifts up those who trust in Him.

Prayer

Lord Almighty Father, You are the God who blesses those who seek You earnestly and remain faithful to You. I come before You today seeking Your blessing, that my life may testify of Your power, goodness, and glory. Help me to be a faithful steward of all You entrust to me and a channel of blessing to others. In Jesus’ name I pray!
