“The angel of the Lord encamp around those who fear him, and he delivers them” – Prov 34:7 (NIV)
November 25th, 2018, there was a boat accident in Uganda on Lake Victoria. It left over 30 people dead. Videos captured before the fateful moment show happy people having carefree fun. Then at a certain point the boat capsizes and pandemonium breaks lose. Everyone starts fighting for their lives. A good number including the Boat owners would lose their lives at sea.
That was a sobering moment. One day one is full of life then suddenly one is scampering for life. It all goes to show how we have so little in control. Certainly for many they had plans of how to spend the next Sunday. Many did not make it.
As we go about our lives let it not escape us that we know so little of the future and that our lives are all in God’s hands. Being consumed with all manner of anxieties is only meaningful when we surrender those thoughts and fears to God. But most importantly we should all be prepared- for the Lord can come calling to take us home at any time of the day and night.
Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray that I may always be mindful of the fact that all of my life is in your hands.
