“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depth of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” – (Psalm 139:13-16).
A low self esteem that can pull one down with pangs of inferiority complex can paralyze the lives of many! Yet in the eyes of God every one of us is special. As we see in today’s verse God knows us even before we are born and calls each one of us individually for a special role in His kingdom. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepares for us in advance” (Ephesians 2:10).
The prophet Jeremiah too noted, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). Writing to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul reminds them, “But he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace” (Gal 1: 15). The inference here being that the life Paul was marked even before he was born.
King David noted that God knows every thought of ours from the beginnings. “Lord you have searched and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways” (Psalm 139:1-4). This all shows how we count in the eyes of God.
If the Almighty God knows you to the minutest detail why think of yourself less than His image of you. Today, no one should let the enemy limit you with feelings of not being the best there is. Someone who was “fearfully and wonderfully made” whom God knows all his thoughts, can’t afford to think of himself as less than any up there. Rather, you should go out with the knowledge that not only are you uniquely formed but God has a special and distinct purpose for you as His dear child!
Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, as you created me in your image I know I am special and unique, born for a purpose, which is to conform to the image of your Son Jesus Christ, and this I pray in your Almighty name!
