“Then Nathan said to Samuel, “You are the man...” - 2 Sam 12:7 (NIV)

The story is told of how one day the prophet Nathan walked up to King David and brought to his attention a crime he would rather not be reminded of -the killing of Uriah so as to help himself with his wife Bathsheba! Nathan had clearly a message from God which was all intended for King David’s good. In doing so he was as well-being a true friend.

In our lives do we have such friends- one who can come and address to us uncomfortable issues that we need to consider. A lot of times the friends we have are such that they cannot dare speak truth to us because of how we might react. Yet look at David’s response. “I have sinned against the Lord” ( 2 Sam 12: 13). What an example of true humility.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray I am humble to be open to your convictions.
