The Lord vindicates!

Vindicate me, O Lord, my God, according to your righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me! Psalm 35:24

A certain friend was suspended from his profession out of malice. He decided to pursue the matter in court. After a prolonged court battle, the judge ruled in his favour and his name was restored. He was vindicated.

The Bible has numerous cases of those who were wronged and its never a pleasant experience. After he lost his family members along with his property, Job’s friend, came and haunded him for having done something wrong ( Job 4). King David was thrown out of his palace by his son Absolm, and he wrote “Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him” (Psalms 3:1-2).You could add on Joseph, who was sold into slavery by his very own!

Being wronged can lead to a feeling of abandonment, guilt and mortification. Like we see with Job. But one may also feel God has let him down. In Psalm 13:1 David lets out his feelings: “How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” (Psalms 13:1 ).

If you have undergone such an experience of being wronged lately just remember you are not the first. More, also, you shouldn’t feel guilty about your dispondent feelings, even anger and doubts at God. What though you should count on is that God vindicates his own. It’s a question of “when”! When Job was finnaly vindicated God directed his accusing companions to apologize: “After the Lord had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has” (Job 42:7 ).

Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, I know through you comes hope and deliverance, and because you care you bring vindication through life’s challenges, this I pray in Jesus’s name!
