“Now the main point of what we are saying is this: we do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the tabernacle, set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being” - Hebrew 8:1-2 (NIV)

In every town there are godfathers who help open doors for those seeking opportunities. Usually they are the well-connected big shots who hold the levers of power. Sometimes they ask for a price to connect you. At other times you are just lucky to know them to throw in a word without asking. They hold keys to many offices.

As a believer you may wonder who is my godfather in this life? You fear not being connected to the right family with means. Perhaps you did not go to the right school where you could have met a power broker. Maybe you come from a minor tribe with just a few big shots in town unlike others. Your gender might be still at the wrong end of the stick. Yet just as everyone you too need a godfather to open doors for you!

Do not worry. As a believer you have a father who stands above all. He is the Lord Jesus Christ-and so, you are not alone. “What then shall we say these things, if God is for us who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us as all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32).

Where others have physical godfathers looming everywhere, in every corridor of power, as a believer you have a father who is “at the right hand of God, who is interceding for us” (verse 34). May this be God’s comforting word to you, just in case you worry so.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the precious name of Jesus to know and remember that you are interceding for me day and night and I should not worry that nobody knows me for you know me as your own child!
