The Holy Spirit is a Friend!

31/03/2022 00:00 - 23:00

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever” John 14:6 (NIV).

A certain brother in Christ happened to have a job. It was a good job with lots of perks. However, after a year or so he started feeling quite anxious within about it. He tendered in his resignation. Soon after the organisation was riddled with all sorts of scandals, that ultimately took down the entire management.

There can be a number of interpretations to this brothers experience, perhaps some might even think of him as pyschic. But his experience is no different from what many believers have felt before- a certain restlessness coming from within about a certain place or situation. They take a decision based on inner conviction which later proves them right.

There was once a friend who was invited to a certain church. “Everything they preached seemed all right,” she shared with me. “They taught from the Bible and sung all the normal praises. But all along I felt unsettled.” Eventually she decided to cease attending. Soon it became obvious this was another cult frisking members of their possessions for the benefit of its promoters.

Jesus promised his disciples, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water,  but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1: 4-5). One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is to perfect our paths in the walk with Christ. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you”‘ (John 14:26).

Today, may you be sensitive to the Holy Spirit who is your companion- there to comfort, guide and bring you closer to the Almighty God.

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, today I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit who is my friend and may I be sensitive to Him as he guides me into all truth, this I pray in Jesus’s name.
