"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." (Phillipians 4:8)

A simple exploration of the universe and an observation at the way celestial bodies are majestically laid out not only points to a Creator behind but also one whose hand is committed to perfection. While for some the way planets are suspended and crowned with a carpet of stars was a chance random event; it takes special revelation to be humble to acknowledge God's skillful hand behind all!

One thing that defines what God touches is not just an eye for beauty but also excellence. For example, when King Solomon set out to build a Temple, aware of this he tasked his workmen to create a work of surpassing beauty. "Solomon covered the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold. So he overlaid the whole interior with gold. He also overlaid with gold the altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary" (I Kings 6:21-22).

Speaking of our bodies which are an intricate work of excellence, the Psalmist sings, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:14).

Aware of all this it is expected of any serious believer in Christ to aspire for excellence in all he does. If you serve a master and you know that he does things the most excellent way would you present works of mediocrity to him and expect affirmation! Taking after the creator of the universe let us aspire for excellence in all we do as this is a true reflection of the God we serve.

Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, as you are a God of excellence may whatever I do strive for beauty and excellence, for that is the best reflection of who you are, this I pray in Jesus' name.
