Stay Blessed!

“You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.” (Deuteronomy 28:3)

Blessings are a divine inheritance from God. All God’s children are blessed in many ways. We are blessed with the fresh air we breathe—something that became especially evident during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, when many struggled for oxygen. The sunshine we enjoy is a blessing in many parts of the world. God blesses us with rain to grow food for our nourishment. Above all, God’s children experience the blessings of good health, loving relationships, and the joy that comes from His presence.

However, for God’s children to continue enjoying His blessings, there are conditions to follow. “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 28:1–2). In simple terms, obedience to God’s will is key to continually walking in His blessings.

Like children who have a relationship with their father, believers can also receive blessings by crying out to God in prayer. Psalm 142:1–5 says, “I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy… I cry to you, Lord; I say, ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.’” Hannah remained childless for many years, but she cried out to the Lord, and He blessed her with a son. “So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the Lord for him’” (1 Samuel 1:20).

Whenever God blesses us, He also gives us responsibilities. First, we are called to bless others. “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked” (Luke 12:48). Christians are not blessed merely to store up wealth or build monuments for themselves. Jesus said, “Freely you have received; freely give” (Matthew 10:8).

Finally, when God blesses us, we must rejoice in His goodness. King David celebrated joyfully when the Ark of God was brought back to Jerusalem. Despite criticism from his wife Michal, “David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment” (2 Samuel 6:14).

Today, wherever you may find yourself on the journey of life, remember this truth: you are a blessed child of God. Begin your day with confidence and gratitude, saying, “I am a blessed child of God!”

Prayer Today:
Lord God of Abraham, Maker of heaven and earth, thank You for the many blessings You have given me. I praise You for Your goodness and mercy in my life. Help me to walk in obedience, to bless others generously, and to rejoice always in Your favor. May Your blessings continue to overflow in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray!
