“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltness, how can it be salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot” - Mat 5:13 (NIV)

Have Christians both influenced and impacted the world around us! There is a view shared by some that the Gospel has been of negligible influence and this explains the wickedness all around in our society.

They cite the corruption we see in high offices and wonder where Christians have been after all. Those nations that tend to call themselves Christians often indulge in such callous behaviors, waging wars of greed that you have to wonder.

Two things we need note here. First, calling oneself a Christian does not necessarily mean one has surrendered their lives to Christ. There could be as many people as you wish calling themselves as such without ever experiencing the grace of His salvation.

And as for a nation to be called Christian that might mean nothing where the majority of her people have no personal knowledge of Christ!

But where individuals have been touched by the power of the Gospel of course through the work of the Holy Spirit there are busy at work changing society around them. These are the ones who are acting as a source of light in dark places. There are busy putting up charities, hospitals and schools to show His love for humanity. There are changing culture around them through a changed lifestyle that honors God in the Market place.

If we are seeing less of this perhaps then the concern is due: Where are the Christians!

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that wherever you place me I take your light into the world.
