Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, gently we rise to a new month, thankful you have enabled us complete January. To you we give honour and glory. The Holy scriptures say that as they left Egypt with Pharaoh in hot pursuit, “the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long” (Exodus 14:19-20). So here we pray for that angel to come down and bring that cloud that guards us against all foes and brings light that penetrates darkness. Where there is danger we cling to your word which says, “I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday” (Psalm 91:2-6). For all the dangers in our way we cling to your encompassing hand of protection. Lord, we thank you for all the dear children whom you enabled to sit their national exams and we pray you, their father, and has the interest of each one of them at heart, may open a door for each one of them to find a place for a meaningful future. Your word says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18) and in this month give us a vision that will take us to yet another level, that your name may be glorified that ours is a living and mighty God. All this we pray in the precious and loving name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
