“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” - Romans 12: 12 (NIV)

In life we may experience a matter that for years keeps us disturbed and quite restless. In our agony we present it to the Lord. Yet that matter does not go away. We might have that huge prayer request, to receive a certain favor from the Lord. But the breakthrough does not come so swiftly.

There was once such a person. Hannah the wife of Rammathain was a co wife and would not give birth (Samuel 1). Her co wife, Peninnah, who had children, turned her misfortune into a blind soar, constantly taunting her to irritate her (1 Samuel 6:6). Hannah in response went to the Lord praying year after year for favor.

In the end the Lord came through and opened her womb. She gave birth to a son. “She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him” (1 Sam 20).

What is the matter pressing on your heart! Do you feel it has taken too long for the Lord to open the door! Are you about to give up on prayer? Is someone out there mocking you just as Hannah experienced! Do not give up in prayer. Persist just as Hannah. One day there will surely be a breakthrough.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray in the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth that you come through and open the door for that matter long on my heart.
