“For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline” - 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)

Some people have a certain phobia for all manner of things, like say lizards. In many African houses there certain house gecko lizards. These can have some utility as in eating mosquitoes and flies. But don’t tell that to the one hum strung with fear of lizards!

There are some people who have the fear of car driving. No matter what driving school they go through their nerves will be on edge and can never trust themselves behind any wheel.

Fear can be a very demobilizing and oppressive feeling that incapacitates anyone to move forward and be of any use. It is a weapon the enemy can use to steal one of any joy and action. The person paralyzed with fear can at times feel so distressed and pulled down to go further in life.

As believers we have been blessed with a spirit that overcomes such immobilizing fear. The Holy Spirit who lives in us daily empowers us to overcome any oppressive fear. Let us ever so rely on Him and of His power to overcome any fear, for fear is never from God!

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray that through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in me I know I have conquered any fear and I live a victorious life!
