“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” - Prov 6:34 (NIV)

Have you ever met someone who worries a lot? Almost all thoughts are consumed with fear of something fateful happening. They worry about the weather. They worry about their jobs. They worry about their kids. They worry about old age. They worry about the end of their lives on earth. And lots of stuff.

Worry can be productive especially when it is a cause of some good action. If I worry about my life and take good care of it, then that is fine. Worrying about the future of children by investing in their education is something good.

However, there is a point where worry can be problematic. When one starts worrying so much to a point of anxiety and possible depression for fear of some inescapable fate, then something has clearly gone wrong. Worry you may but at certain point one must know that God is in control.

And one other thing. Just as the scriptures warn us that every day has enough troubles of its own, by letting ourselves be consumed with thoughts of anxiety we not only let ourselves be depressed for nothing, but are also failing to acknowledge how God is more interested in our lives than us! Let us therefore surrender our worries to God and not be controlled with all sorts of anxiety.

Prayer for today: Lord Father in heaven, today I pray that I surrender to you all my worries for you are in control.
