*God the Rewarder!*
Any labourer who performs a task well naturally expects to be rewarded. It would be deeply unfair for someone to invest significant effort into a job, only for the employer to dismiss them without compensation. Scripture affirms this principle: *“You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The worker deserves his wages”* (1 Timothy 5:18).
In the same way, as children of God, when we do what is good and aligned with His will, the Lord does not overlook our efforts. The Bible assures us: *“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain”* (1 Corinthians 15:58).
An important observation is God’s rewards are not always material. Sometimes He blesses us with peace in the midst of trouble, strength during trials, wisdom for difficult decisions, spiritual growth, divine favor, greater opportunities and ultimately the gift of eternal life. As the Apostle Paul declared, *“Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing”* (2 Timothy 4:8).
The Bible is filled with powerful examples of God as a rewarder. Abraham left his homeland in response to God’s call and became the father of many nations (Genesis 17:5). Joseph endured betrayal, false accusation, and imprisonment, yet remained faithful. In due time, God elevated him to the highest position in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh (Genesis 41:37-44).
Sometimes God’s rewards may not always come immediately. There are seasons of waiting when our faith is tested and our character is refined. Delayed rewards are not denied rewards. God’s timing is perfect, and He often uses the waiting period to prepare us for the blessings that lie ahead.
As a child of God persist in good works. Jesus taught that even the smallest acts done in His name are noticed by the Father. Assisting the needy, giving lift to a stranded stranger, or supporting a good cause — none of these goes unnoticed. And, while human recognition may be fleeting or absent, God’s record is perfect and complete. But we should never be boastful, for, He says, *“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward”* ( Mathew 6:2).
So, child of God, do not grow weary in doing good. When results seem slow or faithfulness appears unrewarded, take heart. God sees all! God remembers. And He will reward you according to His perfect justice and love. Your labour in the Lord is never in vain.
*Prayer for Today:* Lord Almighty Father, help me to serve You diligently in all things — both great and small. Strengthen me to remain faithful, knowing that my labour in You is never in vain. Thank You for being a generous Rewarder of those who diligently seek and serve You. I pray this in Jesus’ mighty name!
