"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" - Hebrews 13:8 (NIV).

When a child is unusually forgetful, like whenever he is sent to pick up sugar and there he returns with tea, any would worry. To remember when asked to do something is taken as a fact. We bemoan anyone who is ever forgetful, and would have trouble relating with that person. How do you trust someone who forgets you immediately once you turn your back.

As they entered the promised land having witnessed all the miracles in the desert one message that was constantly shared to the Israelites was not to be forgetful. "Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years.." (Deuteronomy 8:2), so they were tasked. "Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day" (vv 11). Further,  "If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed" (vv 19).

Now just as was for the Israelites each one of us who has walked with the Lord, we have seen some miraculous deed in our lives, performed by God. Yes, there was that moment when everything looked so hopeless and everyone had but abandoned us, only for God to lift us up! But now years after faced with a new challenge we doubt our God will deliver us! How come? Isn't that being ever so forgetful.

As a believer do not be forgetful. But rather whatever you may be faced with, remember the same God who carried you this far, He will do it again! For Jesus is the same today and forever.

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, as you are the same God who has saved me in the past, I do place all my faith in you, for you always deliver, and so I pray in Jesus's name.
