"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" - Phil 4:13 (NIV).

Every single individual will once in a while be swamped with feelings of inadequacy for a certain task. There could be cases where one looks at the resources he has and certainly slows down because of being overwhelmed. Every life will come up to a certain mountain that appears too tall to climb.

Faced with such a challenge, in our verse today the Lord is challenging us not to lose hope but look up to him. As it is written, "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint" (Isaiah 40:30).

Across life there are many individuals who walked with God and felt not up to the job but God came up once they looked up to him. Moses trembled with doubt as he was tasked to return to Egypt and liberate his people. "But Moses said to the Lord, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?” (Exodus 6: 30). To which the Lord answered, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet" (Exodus 7:1).

It was not wrong for Moses to question himself as the task rightly seemed to be an uphill. His self-doubts were met with God equipping him with an aide and later with a set of miracles that overwhelmed Pharaoh.

Just as then, any of us faced with an uphill battle, should not be discouraged because "God is able!"

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of creation, as I am reminded by your word of hope and promise, faced with a huge task before me, I know I am able, because of faith in you, who enables me!
