"Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken" - Psalm 55:22 (NIV).

There is a practice common to all fishermen world over. In order to catch fish they must cast their nets out and entice fish to bite only to be harvested. No fisherman goes out expecting to reap a harvest only to sit on his net. The net must be cast out!

When you cast out something it means you are no longer holding on it. In life, like fishermen, we often need to cast out our burdens rather than hold on to them. Any person may find himself in a difficult situation. One may choose to hold on to that situation like a fisherman sitting on his nets trying to figure a way out, perhaps with little success. Another person may look out for a solution but from a wrong source, like casting out the nets in air. Casting out is good but it also matters where.

When you look at fishermen to get harvest they must cast out their nets in the right water source, not any place. Likewise, any person with a challenging situation must cast that burden at the right source of power.

Today, the Lord assures us that if we cast our cares to him the he will sustain us! This is the power we need. Just as Psalm 27:5 says, "For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock".

Prayer  for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, today I cast to you all my cares, knowing I will never be shaken for you care and ever sustain me, this I pray in Jesus's name!
