PRAYER APRIL, 2022
Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, we thank you for the month of March, 2022, which you have graciously enabled us complete. It’s been a long month and in some respects a few of us lost loved ones, friends snapped away quite suddenly. But where one remembers your word that, “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him” (1 Thessalonians 4:14), even something as crushing as death we are hopeful. Indeed, it is this hope that we have in Jesus as our Lord and savior, which makes life worthwhile. All around us we see a world up in flames: the roar of guns in distant Europe causing an exodus of refugees. Then even more importantly nearer us in Uganda conflicts continue to rage, internally and around borders, often resulting into massive refugees scattered from their once secure homes. Yet your word says, “He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore” (Isiah 2:4). And so for all the wars and violence we see, we know there will be that day when peace shall reign and “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them” (Isaiah 11:6). So, in these troubled times, worsened with rise in cost of living, where else but look up to you! We wrap ourselves in your loins that overpowered death through your resurrection on the cross. In this Lent season teach each one of us something about denying ourselves for a greater good. We continue to bring to you our beloved country rising at the source of Nile where we see a lot that brings tears to us: looting of the nation’s stores with reckless abandon, wanton abuse of power, depraved actions against the weak and defenseless, an exhibit of sheer callousness towards fellow mankind, and what more! But through all we know that one day you will come down to judge the living and dead, and every one of us shall be accountable for our deeds. Bless the work of our hands as you promised, “The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands” (Deuteronomy 28:12). Protect our families with a hedge that the enemy who moves to and fro seeking whom to devour, kill and destroy, may be rendered to utter waste. We therefore look to this month of April pregnant with joy and an expectation of something good about to happen, for “they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31). All this we pray in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
