"For I hold you by your right hand— I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you"'( Isiah 41:3).

As the prophet Moses passed on the baton to Joshua "The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: “Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you" ( Deuteronomy 31:24). Joshua was about to step into the shoes of Israel's greatest prophet and there must have been certain anxiety on his part. However, he need not have worried much; the Lord was just as interested in his success!

Soon after Moses's death, at 129, the Lord gave Joshua a word of hope, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go" ( Joshua 1:9). In the subsequent period, Joshua would experience great victory on the battle field, one after another. He took Jericho and proclaimed, "Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! The city and all that is in it are to be devoted  to the Lord" ( Joshua 7: 16-17).

When Joshua, having experienced spectacular victory in life was about to pass on at the age of 110, he summoned all Israel and reminded them, "You yourselves have seen everything the Lord your God has done to all these nations for your sake; it was the Lord your God who fought for you" ( Joshua 23:3).

What came to pass for Joshua is the same with you. The Lord had not appointed Joshua for failure; as he obeyed him victory was his. And you too whatever the task you might be facing, the good Lord says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" ( Jeremiah 29:11).

Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, as you appointed Joshua for success, I know you have appointed me to experience success in all my endeavors, all this I pray in Jesus'name.
