“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phill 4:6-7)

Every now and then there comes those situations that almost paralyses us as we don’t seem to see any way out and we are lost of any hope. Who has not had that matter which weighed so heavily on the mind that left one hopelessly cornered. This could range from situations such as an estranged relationship or bidding for a job that is slow in coming forth. The matter seems to leave us overwhelmed.

Whenever one reaches such point of desperation, well, it could be time to let go and ask God to take over. By letting go we are but confirming our total trust in God. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
In the life of Moses we see that at one point he was obsessed with liberating the Jews from captivity that he even took the law into his hands when he murdered an Egyptian (Exodus 2:11-13). It wasn’t God’s call and he had to flee once word went out. Moses had to let go. Finally we see at a time of God’s choice him being picked out of
the wilderness and told it is time to go to victory (Exodus 3).

But letting go is not as easy as it might sound. Even then; the Apostle Peter writes, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” ( 1 Peter 5:7). And Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Today, if there is any matter that seems to be weighing so heavily on you that you are almost bereft of peace, it might be best, to just let it go and ask God to take over. You will be surprised when victory knocks!

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of heaven and earth, whatever it is weighing on my heart, I decide to let go, for you are sovereign and have power to will anything to, this I pray in Jesus’ name!

“Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy” (Psalm 33:1-3)

There are people who insist they do not have an ear or even voice for music. However, for those who are Christians, regardless, music and praise, is a central way of life. Basically it is one of those ways the Lord has left us to reach and worship Him. For instance, the Psalms are full of praise. “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to your name, O Most High” (Psalm 91:2). And Psalm 32:11 says “Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart.”

Psalm 145:13 says, “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever.

In the book of revelation praises are constant. “And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne ...Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing...Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever” (Revelation 5:11-13).

Music and praise are good to us because it is soothing to the soul. “Whenever the evil spirit from God bothered Saul, David would play his harp. Saul would relax and feel better, and the evil spirit would go away” (I Sam 16:23). Praises uplifts the spirit when down. “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42: 11). Praises opens gates to the throne of God. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name” (Psalm 100: 4).

Today, do not deny yourself of this marvelous gift the Lord has blessed us with. It is not just an inescapable way of life in Christ but one way to experience his glorious riches. “Praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe” (Psalm 150:4).

Prayer for today: Lord Father God Father in heaven, today I rise up to give you praise and thanksgiving, that I may rejoice in the wonders of the rich life that in you, this I pray in Jesus’ name!
